Spring Cleaning

I forgot to mention yesterday that I did some cleaning up in my gallery. Most of the stuff I got rid of was work I did back in high school. There are a couple other pieces I want to get rid of but I'll let them live for a while longer.

Also, did I mention how excited I am for Hellboy II: The Golden Army? The new trailer is so amazingly awesome. I had a big stupid grin across my face when I the trailer was over. July 11th couldn't come any sooner.

COUGH

Ugh! Why does having a cold suck? Why? Why couldn't I cough and sneeze up candy? lol

That reminds me of a conversation I had at school the other day with a couple friends. I don't recall how it started but it came to a point where we were discussing where or not barfing up money would be a good thing. I was saying it'd suck because of the abdominal pain but then said it'd depend which dollar bills you'd be hurling and how many. Haha.

I'm taking a break from working on my Alice series, kind of tired of it for the moment. I'm still not done with the mock turtle, though I'm not sure whether to finish it up or put it on hold for the time being.

At moment I'm working on a Hellboy bust which I'm excited about. I plan to start the Batman Rogues Gallery busts after I'm done with Hellboy; Mr. Freeze will be first.

You Win Some, You Lose Some

Well, out of all my sculptures only the Alice (which I don't like) got into the exhibition, just her. Even though I said and made it clear that it was a set of 5 but there was nothing I could do. To say the least, I was pissed and extremely disappointed. The two linoleum cuts (fuan and Conan) that I entered got in too though. Now in retrospect I'm somewhat glad that 3 of my works got in, two more than last year.

Everyone that realized that not all my sculptures made it in were shocked and told me it was completely unfair. Whatever, I could careless now. I know I worked my ass of these and that they're top notch work. I can say with confidence that I'll be able to build a strong portfolio (which I'm in the middle of doing so) for Ringling.

I however did get 1st place in the chalk drawing contest held every year at my school. This was my 4th time participating. I'll get around to uploading pictures of that.

And So It Comes Down To This...

Basically 6 months of hard work boils down to a moment when my sculptures will be judged. I was really confident about my work getting into the exhibition and winning at least something. After seeing some of the work yesterday that other people submitted, I'm not so confident. I was really shocked at the amount of good work this year, some of it really exceptional. I'm still pretty sure my work will get in, though, not all of it. But as for winning, I really don't know any more.

Today before noon I have to go in and turn in my sculptures. Since I'm special and I have to do things different at times I was allowed to turn in my sculptures right before the work is juried since I don't want ANYONE handling my work.

Well, wish me luck.

Hard At Work

Or hardly working?

I sorta wish it was the ladder. But I've really been giving it my all into my sculptures. And all the more since two weeks ago because I've been preparing my Alice in Wonderland sculpture series and couple other works for an exhibition that's going to be held at my college. I can only hope all my work gets in and that I win at least something. I know winning isn't everything but nows a good time for one.

I have all of tomorrow to paint Alice and put the finishing touches on whoever may need it. Then come Friday morning I'll be turning everything in.

I plan to continue working on the Alice series until I get bored of it I suppose. Though, my obsessive compulsive nature will push me to make several more characters, if not all.

I'm currently working on the mock turtle and even though it's just a head, I'm pretty excited about it. I'd tell you my plans for the character but I rather wait and let the picture do the talking for me. Once I'm done with the mock turtle I intend to make the dodo bird, I have a neat idea for him. Heh.
